About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer and trial skills teacher aroud the world, its his most important tool. As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[AM950 Minneapolis] February 15th: What Happens When the U.S. Kills Russian Mercenaries.

I appear on AM 950 Minneapolis with my buddy Mattt cNeil on February 14th.  On February 7th and 8th, there was a serious firefight that took place in an oil rich region on Syria. This fact in itself may not generally be terribly significant except for one fact, apparently the combatants were American on one side and the other side were primarily Russian mercenaries. According to reports, the U.S. was using B-52s, AC-130 Gunships and F15s.  As a result of airstrikes and close combat, somewhere between 100 and 300 Russian, Ukrainian and other Southern Republic fighters were killed.  What are the implications.

This is a fascinating story because it highlights the shadowy world of the merc and how and why countries use them.  We will talk that and a lot more.

[AM950 Minneapolis] February 1st: Nunez and Trump Try to Undercut Russia Investigation

I appear on AM950 Minneapolis with my friend Matt McNeil on February 1st.  So Congressman Nunez, the GOP and Donald Trump all seem set on releasing a memo that has been called, incorrect, unreliable, incomplete, and containing classified information that should n't be made public. So, why would they release such a memo? Simply, they are trying to undercut the Russian investigation to determine whether Trump or his people were involve din either conspiring with the Russians or in obstructing the investigation. Simply put, that's it.

Rather than saying, lets get this thing out there and figure out what happened and what the Russians and maybe some Americans did, they want to get people to ignore the results of the investigaiton itself.  is there anybody who things that that might be a problem?

This should be interesting.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] November 30th: Latest on Trump/Russia Investigation

I appear on AM 950 Minneapolis with Mike McIntee on November 30th. Things are absolutely ramping up with Special Counsel Bob Mueller's investigation of the Trump campaign and the Russians. The President claims that the investigation will be over by the end of the year. That is an unequivocal pipe dream.  It will never happen.  Mike Flynn is in the wings right now and I expect indictments or pleas to come down the pike at any moment.

This is going to be an interesting conversation as we look back and where we have come but really where we are going in the future.  This promises to be fun. Hope you can listen.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] October 20th: Jack Talks U.S. Soldier Deaths in Niger

I appear on AM 950 with Mike McIntee on October. This is going to be an extended conversation so this is going to get pretty interesting. One of the big stories that continues to gain steam involves the death of four U.S. Green Beret soldiers in Niger back in early October.  One of the real problems is that the story continues to change and morph and nobody seems to have any answers. Further, this is a story that President Trump utterly ignored for a week and a half and the approached it in a particularly peculiar way.

This promises to be a very interesting and likely feisty conversation. I hope you can listen.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] October 9th: Jack Talks Trump Instability

I appear on AM950 with Matt McNeil on October 9th.  There is an interesting spat going on inside the Beltway that is getting really really strange. This one is between President Trump and Republican Senator Bob Corker, the Senate Chairman of the powerful Foreign Relations Committee.  What makes this particularly crazy is that the President is going after Corker and Corker refused to back down. In fact, Corker's argument is that the President needs adult supervision. What makes this interesting is that multiple reports have talked about many in the White House trying to protect Trump from . . . you guessed it Trump.  Extraordinary.

The stone cold silence inside the Beltway from other Republicans is equally amazing. Corker is popular, well respected and has a lot of friends. This puts them in a very interesting place. The real question I have been asking for months is when the GOP will decide that being allied to the President is actually costing them votes and that they would shift.  While this may not be the time, it is certainly another stick on the fire.

his should be an interesting conversation.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] August 25th: Jack Talks a Busy and Dangerous Week in the World

I appear on AM 950 Minneapolis on August 25th. Wow, what a busy week in the United States and in the world. Sometimes, people in the states overvalue the U.S. and assume the whole world is looking to the United States for answers. This is not the case. At the same time, the U.S. has enormous influence in the world and many other countries take their cue from the States. The way the President handles the media, the way they handles human rights, civil rights, and more.

This is gonig to be an amazing conversaton and always so much fun.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] August 8th: Jack Talks Trump/North Korea Egonomics

I appear on AM 950 with Mike McIntee on August 8th. For some reason, I can't help but think back to my days on the playground when two kids would start trying to act tough, yell at each other, and bump chests until one of them told the other one that "my father could beat up your father."  Children, right?  Well, what happens if they have nuclear weapons?  Of course, Kim Jung-Un and Donald Trump are not children but there are aspects of this story that make me wonder.

This is a potentially horrific story with worldwide ramifications.  Hope you can listen.
