About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer and trial skills teacher aroud the world, its his most important tool. As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[Russian Television International, July 22nd: Jack Talks Possible Terrorism and Munich Attack

I appear on Russian TV International on Friday, July 22nd.  Another attack. This time, allegedly three individuals were involved in an attack on a shopping mall in Munich, Germany.  While information is coming in, it is reported that at least 6 are dead.  This comes on the heals of another attack in Germany by a young man from Afganistan who claimed to be motivated by ISIL.

I will apear and talk about this continuing paradigm shift and what this will mean as well as the possible political ramifications coming out of Europe as a result.  Hope you can watch.

[Press TV International] July 1st: Talks Talks Terrorist Attack in Dhaka.

I appear on Press TV out of Tehran, Iran on July 1st.  As the world pivots to Bangladesh and this recent attack, I appear for the first time of Press TV to talk about this. The Iranian government is watching IS very closely and the Muslim world has serious skin in the game and they are watching this attack as a possible expansion of IS around the world.  What can a poor country do?

There is an additional element here.  It is interesting to watch what people care about and to watch how coverage changes in each country. Further there is absolutelt a distinction between how the Americans and Canadians see this compared to how the Europeans cover this.  Take it a step further and watch how this story is covered in the Middle East.  It makes for a fascinating conversation.

Hope you can watch.

[CNBC Appearance] Tuesday, June 28th: Jack Talks Istanbul Attack

I appear on CNBC on Tuesday, June 28th.  As the information continues to come in slowly, it appears to be IS. The approach that the perpetrators took and the people whom they targeted is consistent with what IS has done around the world.  The question not will be to reach back to the people involved and look at the logistics behind the operation.  This should be an interesting conversation.

Hope you can watch.

[Canadian National TV News] June 18th: Jack Talks Belgium Efforts Against IS

I appear on Canadian National TV News tonight, June 18th.  The Belgians conitnue on high alert after March's attack in Brussels.  in the last 24 hours, the Belgians have conducted more than 40 operations in more than 16 municipalities and have picked up some 40 people.  While 12 were detained and 3 arrested, the operations continue and the Belgians seem to believe the threats are real.  They continue on high alert.

I will appear to talk about the ongoing IS threat and why Belgium seems to to continue to be in the Islami State's crosshairs.  Hope you can watch.

[Kare 11] June 12th: Jack Talks Orlando, Terrorism and Hate Crimes

I appear on KARE 11 at 5 p.m. c.s.t. With more than 50 dead and another 50 plus injured, the massacre in Orlando is one of the worst in U.S. history.  We are certainly getting a lot of conflicting stories.  Was this terrorism tied to ISIL or was this a hate crime to attack the GLBT+ community.  I will appear on KARE to talk about what it means.  Gonna be a long few days as sort this out.

Hope you can catch it.

[Russian TV International] Saturday, June 4th: Jack Talks Sorting Out the Good Guys from the Bad in Syria

What happens when it is hard to tell the good guys from the bad and everybody wants to be the leader? Think Syria. Al Qaida continues to operate and so does ISIL and the Iranians want to fight but so does the Damascus regime and the Russians and the Americans and the Brits and the French. And they all have different agendas. Get the picture? I'm on Russian TV out of Moscow soon to discuss.

[Kare 11] June 3rd: Jack Talks Prosecuting ISIL Recruits and Whether It Helps or Hurts

With the conviction of three young Somali American ISIL recruits in Minneapolis today, is the United States winning the battles but losing the war? In the end, this really is a war of ideas and if the Somali community feels, that they are in the crosshairs already, what might be their response.  It is an exttemely complicated issue.  I appear on KARE 11 tonight at 10 to discuss it. Hope you can watch.
