About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer, its his most important tool.  As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world as much as he himself is captivated.

[KOA Denver] May 23rd: Jack Talks the Manchester Bombing

I appear on KOA Denver to discuss the recent bombing in Manchester, England. This is a particualrly difficult case as this bombing targeted children. Unfortunately, this case seems to display some of the telltale signs of ISIS.  With more than a dozen dead and more than 50 injured, the entire world is watching this case.  The facts are emerging slowly but people have lots of questions  Again, unfortauntely, at this point there are few answers. However, I will discuss the importance of cooperation between intelligence organizations to address this issue.

Hope you can listen.

[Russian TV] November 30th: Jack Talks Ohio State Attack and Racial Backlash

I appear on Russian TV every so often to talk the recent attack that killed 11 and injured more allegedly committed by a young Somali refugee who may have been inspired by IS.  Being based in the Twin Cities here in Minnesota, this is the largest groups of Somali Americans outside of Somalia.  Also, IS and Al Shabaab have both been extremely successful at targeting young men in this community to work on their behalf.  There have been multiple young men who were recently convicted of trying to go to Syria to fight on behalf of IS.  This is quite troubling.

The blowback to these attacks in the Somali community here is equally troubling.  Because of simplistic and sometimes racist views, the entire community is being targeted. Sadly, this actually exacerbates the problem and makes it even easier for IS to recruit. As a result, Americans, Western Europeans and Russians need to make the distinction between those recruited and those in the community.  They are simply not one in the same.  This is critical to fighting ISIS and supporting these communities.

This promises to be an interesting conversation.

[Russian Television International, July 22nd: Jack Talks Possible Terrorism and Munich Attack

I appear on Russian TV International on Friday, July 22nd.  Another attack. This time, allegedly three individuals were involved in an attack on a shopping mall in Munich, Germany.  While information is coming in, it is reported that at least 6 are dead.  This comes on the heals of another attack in Germany by a young man from Afganistan who claimed to be motivated by ISIL.

I will apear and talk about this continuing paradigm shift and what this will mean as well as the possible political ramifications coming out of Europe as a result.  Hope you can watch.

[The Ed Schultz Show] July 5th: Jack Talks Terrorism and ISIS Efforts for WWIII.

[CNBC Appearance] Tuesday, June 28th: Jack Talks Istanbul Attack

I appear on CNBC on Tuesday, June 28th.  As the information continues to come in slowly, it appears to be IS. The approach that the perpetrators took and the people whom they targeted is consistent with what IS has done around the world.  The question not will be to reach back to the people involved and look at the logistics behind the operation.  This should be an interesting conversation.

Hope you can watch.

Russian TV Intl., April 9th- Former CIA Officer and Intl. Lawyer Talks ISIL Terrorism

[CNBC Appearance] Sunday, December 6th: Jack Talks about Pres. Obama's Speech to the Nation

I appear on CNBC on December 6th before and after President Obama's sppech to the Nation.  Considering the devleoping story out of San Bernardino, apparently President Obama feels compelled to take the airwaves to discuss what the U.S. is going to do about it.  I'll appear on CNBC to discuss what it means amd whether it is a good or a bad idea.

Hope you can catch it.

[MSNBC Appearance] October 25th: Jack Talks ISIS Influence on Lone Wolf Attacks

[MSNBC Appearance] September 6th: How Does ISIS Target the Disenfranchised

My favorite quote, "If you want absolute security, everybody should get their own cage."

[MSNBC Appearance] October 25th: Jack Talks Lone Wolf Attacks and ISIS

I appear on MSNBC on October 25th at 2:20 p.m. e.t.  With the recent attacks in Canda as well as events in Frankce and England, there is a real concern in the beltway about lone wolf attacks.  These are attacks by people not directly connected to IS but rather inspired by watching them from afar.  This is much different that what we saw from Al Qaida and IS is purposely trying to push out and recruit these people.

This should be an interesting conversation.
