About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer, its his most important tool.  As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[NTV Broadcasting Moscow] November 2nd: Jack Talks Paul Manafort

I appear on NTV Moscow on November 2nd.  This promises to be an interesting conversation for a whole series of reasons. First and foremost, NTV is one of the networks that has been accused of using its platform for Russian propaganda. As a result, I was very conscious that they might be slanted in a particular direction. However, I must add that I have seen bias to one degree or another on many many networks. That bias can be on viewpoint and sometimes on what stories they tell versus what stories they ignore.

In this case, they absolutely wanted to talk about Paul Manafort which I found fascinating. My focus was on the money laundering aspect of it rather than on the political piece involving the former Ukranian President.  I even talked a bit about the realities of the political in the hunt for evidence of Russian collusion and how that helped provide additional resources to focus in on Manafort.

This was truly a wild conversation.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] October 30th: Jack Talks Indictments of Trump Associates

I appear on AM 950 Minneapolis with Matt McNeil. A lot of extraordinary things are coming out of Special Counsel Bob Mueller's office.  Two have been charged and one has pled guilty. Paul Manafort and Rick Gates have been charged with twelve counts in a Federal indictment.  This is pretty extraordinary considering that Manafort was the Chair of Trump's campaign. In addition, while many of the counts involved their behavior prior to his involvement with the Trump campaign, the Feds are arguing that they were continuing to launder monry while they held positions with the Campaign.  In addition, the third, George Papadopoulos pled guilty to obstruction. This is extraordinary as this may mean that he has not only cooperated with the Feds, he may have reached back out to others who could face charges in the future.

This is going to be a pretty wild conversation.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] September 19th: Jack Talks Latest on Trump/Russia Investigation

I appear on Voice of America International Edition on September 19th. As the process continues to move forward in the Trump/Russia collusion investigation, its clear that Special Counsel Robert Mueller is taking his sweet time. Further, it is also clear that he is being extremely thorough and that this approach is critically important.  At some point, he will come to some conlcusions and it is important that all sides accept the results.  The quesiton of whether the Trump conspired with the Russians has certainly rocked the country and there are regularly more questions than answers. Eventually, these questions should be answered.

The latest involves some information regarding former Trump Campaign Director Paul Manafort.  There were apparently at least two FISA warrants involving Mr. Manafort and this may lead to some really interested information. Based upon what I'm seeing, it appears that Mr. Manafort could be indicted on money laundering, tax evasion and obstruction plus more.  Of course, the question is whether it will stop there.

I will appear on VOA International Edition to discuss.  This will be fun.

[I24 International News] July 14th: Jack Talks Trump Junior's Creative Truths

I appear on I24 International News on July 14th.  Donald Trump Jr. just met with a Russian lawyer back in June 2016 to talk about Russian adoptions.  That's it nothing more. Then, well, it wasn't exactly just Russian adoptions, it was also dirt on Hillary Clinton that this Russian lawyer has.  Um, well, then, it wasn't just a Russian lawyer, it was a Russian lawyer who was bringing information from the Russian government who wanted to help his father, Donald Trump's campaign for the U.S. presidency.  Oh, and Jared Kusher, Trump's Senior Advisor, and Paul Manafort , his campaign chairman also appeared.  And, yup, there's more.  Also present was a former Russian Counter-Intelligence official.  Yeah, we can't make this up.

Now, let's consider, Jeff Sessions, Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn have all lied about their contacts with Russian officials.  OK, they forget about a bunch of contacts with Russian officials.  At the same time, the Russians absolutely hacked into government data bases and tried to impact U.S. elections and Mr. Trump fired the man responsible for figuring out whether Trump and his team were involved in the elections.

How do I say this . . . innocent people don't act this way.  Stories don't change.  The truth is the truth is the truth.

This should be an interesting conversation.

[Voice of America Intl] July 11th: Jack Talks Jr, Manafort and Kushner Meeting with Russian Operative

I appear on Voice of America International Edition. This is an extraordinary development. From the beginning, the Trump Administration has claimed they had no contact with the Russians and that was fake news. The problem, of course, is that they have had extraordinary contact with the Russians. The latest revelation is pretty astounding in itself but consider it in context of all of the previous pieces of information and it is potentially quite explosive.

According to the New York Times and then reiterated by Jr. himself after forced into a corner, Jr. thought he was dealing with a Russian government contact who had dirt on Hillary Clinton. Of course, there is a real question about why he didn't go directly to the FBI.  He didn't. Instead, his response was to say, "seems we have some time and if its what you say, I love it especially later in the summer."  This is extraordinary as it feels like collusion. Further, the Russians then released a ton of information through Wikileaks "later in the summer."  Coincidence?  Hell of a coincidence.

One last point, some have attempted to argue that Jr. is not a White House official in any sense.  Of course, that ignores that possibility that his father was made aware of the situation.  That has yet to be determined. However, what we do know if that Jr. Paul Manafort, the Director of Donald Trump's Presidential campaign, and Donald Trump's senior advisor and dson-in-law Jared Kushner were all present for a meeting  with this Russian lawyer.

Robert Mueller, Special Counsel investigating the Trump/Russia connections, just announced they will be looking into the emails of Jr. as part of their broader investigaiton.

Yeah, this story has legs.
