About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer, its his most important tool.  As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[Voice of America Intl] August 15th: Jack Talks Mueller Investigation

I appear on Voice of America International Edition on August 15th.  Well, Bob Mueller's investigation just keeps on rolling.  It is slow, it is methodical and it is persistent. Of course, some want this to go away right now.  Others want answers right now.  However, Bob Mueller is about dotting every I and crossing every T.  The investigation will not be going away anytime soon. And for those calling this "fake news", including Mr. Trump, there is a whole lot of meat on those bones and Mr. Trump's behavior isn't particular helping his case.

This is giong to be an interesting conversaton as always.  Hope you can catch it.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] May 17th: Jack Talks Special Prosecutor

I always appreciate appearing on Voice of America International  The interviews are always well thought out with an eye toward history.  That is particularly important in a case like this.  When people are neck deep in the moment, it can sometimes be difficult to see anything with perspective.  However, when one talks about the U.S. presidency and bringing in a special prosecutor to look at the issue of whether a sitting President may have colluded with the Russians, it is absolutely one for the history books.

Robert Mueller is a former FBI Director.  In fact, he was the Director under both President Bush and President Obama.  This is important.  Again, with a view of history in mind, having somebody with a bias would do a horrible disservice for the country.  Get somebody with one agenda that is looking for any reason to prosecute this President and you risk alienating a massive group of Americans as well as politicize and delegitimatize the process.  Go the other direction and you risk ignoring the possibility that the Russians not only manipulated an election but did it with the help of the sitting President.  Worse, this would also mean that Russian President Putin would still have something on the President and could make him nothing but a puppet.  Again, not a desirable outcome either.

So, to look at these issues with VOA is always a pleasure.  I hope you can listen.

[I24 International] May 17th: Jack Talks Special Counsel

What an extraordinary appearance on I24. I sat in the chair expecting to talk about Trump's release of classified information to the Russians and the ripple effect that that causes. So, I'm about 30 seconds from going on live and there is breaking news coming through my IFB, my earpiece.  A special prosecutor, special counsel, Robert Mueller, has been appointed.  I simply started laughing. As they cut to me live, you can still hear me laughing.  What an astounding development.

Robert Mueller is the former FBI Director under both President Bush and President Obama.  Also, while known as a Republican, he is also know to be apolitical.  More importantly, I expect Mueller to appproach this through the lens of history.

Again, this is an extraordinary development.
