About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer, its his most important tool.  As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[Press TV Iran] October 8th: Jack Talks U.S. Relations with Turkey Deteriorating

I appear on Press TV Iran on October 8th. The U.S. and Turkey have been allies for a long time but those relations continue to buckle on many fronts. Further, Erdogan's willingness to look to other partners including Iran and Russia are making things even worse for the Americans. This to is particularly thrilling for both the Iranians and the Russians.

Most recently, there were more cuts today in various Visa programs between the countries. And to this the continues abuse of the media and the arrest of more than 100,000 after the coups and the detention of American citizens and the unwillingness of the Americans to deport the one the Erdogan believes is responsible, you have recipe for disaster.

This is fgoing to be an interesting conversation indeed.

[MSNBC] August 6th: Jack Talks Latest on Trump/Russia Connection

I appear on MSNBC on August 6th. This seems to be the gift that keeps on giving, or the nightmare that keeps on scaring, depending upon how one wants to see it.  Bob Mueller has just impaneled a Grand Jury on Washington DC to look at the Russia/Trump connection.  Its important because there was already a Grand Jury that had been impaneled to look at disgraced National Security Advisor Mike Flynn and to start something new seems to indicate that there is something more to look at.

The advantage of a Grand Jury is that you can subpoena records and interrogate under oath and ultimately, bring down indictments.  This is potentially critical to the ongoing investigation.  Further, Mueller continues to bring in more very experienced and very capable prosecutors which also seems to say that this things aint nowhere near  done.

This should be an interesting conversation.

[Russian TV Moscow] July 21st: Jack Talks U.S. Losing in Afghanistan

I appear on Russia TV Moscow on July 21st. The U.S. is losing the war in Afghanistan.  Its objetively true.  In fact, the Taliban now controls more terrirtory in the country than anytime since 9/11.  Contemplate that for a second.

The U.S. acknowledged today that they inadvertantly bombed Afghani soldiers and civilians in Helmund province.  In fact, record numbers of Afghani civilians have have been hit by American and Afghani Airforce airstrikes. What doesn't help is that the numbers of U.S. and Ag=fghani sorties has increased to more than 1500 in 2016 and already more than 1000 this year.  As a result, statistically, the chance for inadvertant bombings simply increases.  However, everytime this happens, it makes it even harder for the Americans to be successful.  And again, they aren't winning.

This should be an interesting conversation.  Further, considering

[RTTV Washington DC] July 20th: Jack Talks Whether Turks Disclosed Classified U.S. Intel

I appear on RTTV with Ed Schultz on July 20th at 8 p.m. e.t.  Its no secret that th realtionsihp between the U.S. and the Turks has deteriorated. Frankly, the relationship between the Turks and the entire EU has deteriorated. Also, President Erdogan currently has sacked more than 150,000 people, arrested or indicted 50,000 and currently has more journalists in jail than any country on the planet.  Frankly, he is a democratically elected totalitarian dictator.

One of the biggest reasons for the fight has to do with the definitation of a terrorist. The Turks think the Kurds are terrorists. The PKK is considered a terrorist gorup by the Turks and to be honest, the Americans and the EU. The problem is that the U.S.'s closest ally in Syria Turkish organization known as the PYD.  They are a Kurdish gorup whom the Turks also consider terrorists. They work very closely with the U.S.

It has been reported that the Turks released classified info about 10 secret U.S. bases including location, number and makeup of personnel and general operations.  To be specific, a story was released by the Turkish state-run Anadalou News Agency which released all of this information. Reporters from this state-run organizatoin claim this was their own investigation and also from public sources based upon statements from the PYD. However, this would absolutely not been allowed without the consent of Erdogan, who has clamped down on the media more than any country right now and those who don't play by his dictates has been sen tot prison. Also, the ongoing animosity is palpable.

This will be an interesting interview tonight.

[KGO San Francisco] May 31st: Jack Talks Trump Investigation and Real News

I appear on KGO San Francisco on May 31st at 8:30 p.m. e.s.t. with my old friend Chip Franklin. Its interesting how Trump and his minions continue to call the Russia investigation "fake news" when it is anything but. Specifically, and most recently, I'm talking about the investigation about Jared Kuchner establishing a covert communication with Russia.  Then of course, the Administration comes out and verifies the so-called "back channel."  Again, let me be clear, this is not a back channel.

Nobody of even limited compentence would allow an adversary to establish and completely control a secret covert communication that purposely excludes the Legislative branch, the Judicial branch and evemn the Executive branch and leaves all of it in the hands of an adversary. He purposely was trying to exclude the Justice Department, the CIA, the FBI, the NSA and everybody else. Consider and compare how Trump treats the Russians compared to one of our oldest and strongest allies, the Germans. In fact, consider how the Russians would want the U.S. to treat the Germans?  Coincidence?  I think not!

Hope you can listen.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] April 25: Jack Talks Mike Flynn's Crimes

I appear on Voice of America International on April 25th to discuss recent statements by House Oversight Chairman Chaffetz, a Republican, who acknowledged today alongside others on the Committee that President Trump's former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn appears to have committed a crime when he failed to disclose that he was a foreign agent for the Turks and the Russians.  Of course, this investigation is really about something else.

The real question is whether the Trump team conspired with the Russians to win the election.  What is certain is this:  The Russians tried to manipulate the election.  The Russians tried to support the Trump candidacy over Clinton.  The Russians paid Flynn.  Flynn failed to disclose the information.  Flynn met with the Russian Ambassador, a known intelligence agent  What is necessary now is to determine what did Flynn talk about with the Russians and did Trump conspire alongside Flynn.

This is going to be an interesting conversation

[KOA Denver] April 13th: Jack Talks FISA Warrant for Trump Advisor

I appear on KOA Denver with Steffan Tubbs on April 13th at 8:20 a.m. e.s.t.  The Washington Post reported that the FBI has been investigating Trump Foreign Policy Advisor Carter Page since 2013.  This is an extraordinary revelation considering Page's multiple contacts with Russian Intelligence operatives.  This is the deepest connection to Russian spying to date and there is a lot to talk about.

This is going to be fun.

[Nicole Sandler Show - Florida] April 12th: Jack Talks Russian Expansion and Influence in U.S.

I appear on the Nicole Sandler Show on April 12th at 3 p.m. e.s.t.  As the stories of Russian influence in the U.S. and the world continue to circulate and expand, I will appear to talk about what it all means.  The latest information about Trump Advisor and American Businessman Carter Page hit the news, this is nothing short of exttraortdinary.  FBI officials were seriously looking at him as a Russian spy.  In fact, they went to a FISA Court judge and not only convinced them once but multiple times that a warrant was necessary.  Where this goes next is anybody's guess.  We are all certainly moving into unchartered waters.

Hope you can catch it.

[RTTV Washington DC] April 10th: Jack Talks U.S./Russian Talks

I appear on RTTV with Ed Schultz on April 10th.  U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is just finishing up the G7 Summit in Italy and on his way to Moscow for talks and boy is there a lot to talk about.  The U.S. just conducted airstrikes in Syria and there are enormous disagreements on that front.  In addition, the Russians are still at the epicenter of a firestorm in Washington regarding their tampering with American elections and there are multiple investigations taking place in Washington to get to the bottom of that.  And to some degree, tied to the Russian tampering is an issue that is near and dear to the Russians' heart and that is sanctions.  When Russia invaded the Crimea in Ukraine, sanctions were placed on it by the West and particularly the Americans.  The Russians want those sanctions lifted.  In fact, there are many, myself included, that believe that the Russians' invovlement in U.S. elections and maybe even their collusion with the U.S., if proven, was tied directly to the sanctions question.

So, there is a lot to talk about.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] April 10th: Jack Talks a Shifting U.S. Policy Re. Syria

I appear on AM 950 in Minneapolis on April 10th at 4 p.m. c.s.t.  It's fascinating watching conflicting stories come out of the White House and from the Secretary of State regarding Syria.  The Secretary said at the G7 today in Italy that the U.S. had an obligation to "protect innocents."  He can't possibly mean this because the U.S. sat around as 500,000 died and then refused to accept refugee families from the region and went a step further and was talking about sending them back.  All of a sudden, it was abouty "beautiful babies?"  The White House said it was still about America First.  Really?  So which is it?  I'm curious about the President's supporters and whether they are buying that.  Now contemplate how the Russians and the Iranians are seeing this.  This is not simple or easy and it's unclear whether President Trump has contemplated any of these issues.

Hope you can listen.
