About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer, its his most important tool.  As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] June 14th: Jack Talks Sessions Testimony

appear on AM 950 in Minneapolis on June 14th.  Attorney General Sessions had a very interesting conversation with the Senate Intelligence Committee.  His intention was to address some of the questions raised by fired FBI Director Jim Comey.  However, one of the biggest questions he raised was why he tried to use Executive Privilege to refuse to answer most of the most pertinent questions.  First, the executive privilege can only be asserted by the President.  Second, the President did not assert that privilege.  Third, the AG doesn't have the right to preemptively assert that privilege.  As a result, it left some member of the Committee certainly scratching their heads.

Interesting stuff.

[I24 International News] June 13th: Jack Pushes Back on Conspiracy Theories

This is going to be a really interesting conversation on I24 International News.  I will be debating somebody who I disagree with on many many levels.  While we will address the testimony of Jim Comey and the upcoming testimony of Jeff Sessions, it appears that this interview will spend a substantial amount of time addressing the question of whether the Russians attempted to hurt the U.S. and also whether this is really about the destruction of President Trump.

Let me be clear:  I have absolutely no desire to destroy this President.  That's not my job.  That being said, I also think that it is critical to understand exactly just how successful the Russians were at hacking into U.S. elections.  Further, it is critical to determine whether Trump and/or and member of his team, pre or post election, was complicit in helping the Russians.  If this results in the destruction of this Presidency, so be it.

This promises to be fun.  Watch if you can.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] June 11th: Jack Talks Sessions and Trump Wanting to Testify

I appear on Voice of American International Addition on June 11th.  After Jim Comey's testimony, Attorney General Jeff Sessions stated that he wants to set the record straight and testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee.  To make the story even bigger, Donald Trump has punched back against his own communications people and his attorney and his fellow Republicans on the Committee regarding what happened and how this all played out. The President has stated that he wishes to testify as well.  We will see where this goes. Its all pretty surreal.

Hope you can listen.

[Voice of America International] March 2nd: Jack Talks Russia, Trump, Sessions and More

I appear on Voice of American International today to discuss the ongoing story of Russia and Trump White House connections.  To be honest, I'm struggling to see where this ends.  My perception is that Flynn was never the end of the story although the Administration was despertely trying to argue it that way.  However, what is particualrly shocking about Attorney General Sessions is why he would say what he said during the confirmation hearings.  He had to know that this would come out.  Right?  So, what is going on with this? He has recused himself and could face much worse. In addition, reports are surfacing right now about White House Special Advisor abd son-in-law Jared Kushner also having contacts with the Russians.  Again, the net widens.

This promises to be an interesting conversation.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] March 2nd: Jack Talks Russians and AG Sessions' Recusal

I just appeared on AM 950 in Minneapolis with my friend Matt McNeil.  The story of Russian efforts to manipulate US elections and its blowback continue to expand and even gain traction.  Yes, Micahel Flynn is out. Now, it appears the Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made some incredibly serious gaffs that are going to be hard to justify.  As a result, he just recused himself from the investigation which is initself extraordinary. However, that may not be enough.  He could become a target of the investigation and may actually face perjury charges.

While perjury charges seem unlikely at this point or even his resignation, this issue is not going away and will dog the GOP for a loing time to come.  POTUS certainly wants to talk about something else but his war with the media has certainly not helped him make too many friends in that camp so expect the fight to continue, and with gusto.

Hope you were able to catch it.

[KOA Denver] March 2nd: Jack Talks Russians and AG Sessions

I appear on KOA in Denver with my old friend Steffan Tubbs to discuss the latest developments in the investigation of Russian involvement with the Trump campaign.  AG Sessions was asked multiple times exactly what contacts he had and then denied having any whatsoever.  It was reveled today that in fact he met several times with the Russian Ambassador to the U.S.  This is tough to reconcile and Democrats and even a few GOPers are asking him to recuse huimself from running the investigaiton.  That may be the least of his worries.

Hope you can catch it.
