About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer and trial skills teacher aroud the world, its his most important tool. As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[AM950 Minneapolis] February 1st: Nunez and Trump Try to Undercut Russia Investigation

I appear on AM950 Minneapolis with my friend Matt McNeil on February 1st.  So Congressman Nunez, the GOP and Donald Trump all seem set on releasing a memo that has been called, incorrect, unreliable, incomplete, and containing classified information that should n't be made public. So, why would they release such a memo? Simply, they are trying to undercut the Russian investigation to determine whether Trump or his people were involve din either conspiring with the Russians or in obstructing the investigation. Simply put, that's it.

Rather than saying, lets get this thing out there and figure out what happened and what the Russians and maybe some Americans did, they want to get people to ignore the results of the investigaiton itself.  is there anybody who things that that might be a problem?

This should be interesting.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] January 23rd: Mueller Turns to Trump for Answers

I appear on Voice of America International Edition with Lori Lundin on January 23rd. As the Mueller investigation continues to move forward, it appears that he his opening a new chapter and that new chapter is entitled Donald Trump. This is significant as the Mueller team has acquired enormous amounts of information so when they are asking the President questions, they already know the answers.

This is potentially an incredibly dangerous chapter for the President.  Its not ju8st about collusion with the Russians but also about obstruction and what that means.  The President has been all over the board and the potential could be incredibly ugly.

This promises to be a really interesting converation. Hope you can listen in.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] January 3rd: Trump/Mueller and What to Expect in 2018

As the Mueller investigation into possible collusion between the Trump camp and the Russians continues, 2018, promises to be interesting. At this point, two have already pled and two others have been indicted. Is Mueller done? Not even close. My expectation is that there will certainly be more indictments and those indictments continue to get ever closer to President Trump.

So, whom? Well, the short list at this point may include Don Jr. and Jared Kushner among others. These are sigfnificant because these are family members. Of course, this raises the ugly spectre of what the Prewidewnt might do. The concern in some quarters is this may drive the President to fire Special Counsel Mueller, This petrifies Republicans in the House because it may force them to act and they are all trying desperately to keep their collective heads down.

We will see. . . .

[Voice of America Intl Edition] December 3rd: Flynn was No Rogue Elephant

I appear on Voice of America on December 3rd. With Mike Flynn pleading guilty in Federal Court to a crime and also to willingly cooperate with the investigation, things are beginning to heat up even more. According to some of the evidence that is apparently in the hands of the Mueller prosecution team, Flynn was in close contact with many of the inner circle of the campaign regarding Russia.

The fact the Flynn lied about it is interesting and got him indicted. It will be curious to see is the rest of the inner circle also lied. If so, we could see a whole series of indictments in short order. I should add that the Trump team continued to lie to the public about no contacts with the Russians. There is unequivocal proof of such contacts now. The question is whether there was more.

Trump claims that the investigation will be over before the end of the year. Frankly, thats laughable. Under these circumstances, he should be concerned. If they prove collusion, they may be able to establish obstruction.

And the world turns.

[MSNBC] December 2nd: And the Noose Tightens

I appear on MSNBC with Richard Lui on December 2nd. With Mike Flynn entering a guilty plea, the Mueller investigation continues to heat up. The Trump campaign and Administration tried to argue the Flynn went rogue and that he was the only one that was in contact with the Russians. However, it is clear that those statements were flat out lies, and I use the terms specifically.  At least six members of the Trump team knew about the contact according to emails in the hands of Mueller.  Then, Trump rolls out Pence to lie to the American people on January 15, 2017, to claim there were no contacts at all.

Maybe the biggest bombshell of all involves a tweet by Trump today. He claims that he fired Flynn at the end of January for lying to Pence and "for lying to the FBI."  This is critical because four months later, Trump went to Attorney General James Comey and asked him to drop the investigation.  If you know that somebody has committed a crime, and lying to the FBI is absolutely a crime, then trying to get the investigation dropped is by definition obstruction.

This is going to be a spicy interview.

[AM 950 Minneapolis] November 30th: Latest on Trump/Russia Investigation

I appear on AM 950 Minneapolis with Mike McIntee on November 30th. Things are absolutely ramping up with Special Counsel Bob Mueller's investigation of the Trump campaign and the Russians. The President claims that the investigation will be over by the end of the year. That is an unequivocal pipe dream.  It will never happen.  Mike Flynn is in the wings right now and I expect indictments or pleas to come down the pike at any moment.

This is going to be an interesting conversation as we look back and where we have come but really where we are going in the future.  This promises to be fun. Hope you can listen.

[KARE 11 TV] November 28th: Jack Talks Latest North Korean ICBM Launch

I appear on Kare 11 Minneapolis with John Croman.  The North Koreans have just launched their latest ICBM.  We haven't seen anything for several months and here comes another.  The U.S. just put them back on the list of State sponsors of terror.  As a result of the this latest test, rhetoic continues to heat up on both sides.  The only one seemingly calling for calm is the South Koreans.  Frankly it makes the most sense considering if the world lights on fire, South Korea is the likeliest to burn first.

This will be a tough conversation on a topic with very few easy answers.  Hope you can catch it.

[MSNBC New York] November 25th: Jack Talks Flynn Flipping

I appear on MSNBC with Richard Lui on November 25th.  The Mueller Investigation continues and it continues to heat up.  Manafort and Gates have gone done.  Papadopolous went down.  Who's next.  My guess is Flyyn is up shortly.  Co-Defendant's who/s case is pending frequently cooperate when it is in the their best interest to do so.  A strong front can sometimes help against the Feds.  However, sometimes, taking a deal and a plea is the best and even only option. But, it also means that the end of cooperation with co-defendants.  This seems to be where Flynn is right now.

The Trump team claims that they aren't concerned.  They should be.  If there is anything anything at all, Flynn could be the key and Flynn is motivated.  Is it about him?  Yes, most certainly.  However, his son could be on the hook and they might make all of the difference in the world.

This should be a fun conversation.
