About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer and trial skills teacher aroud the world, its his most important tool. As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

Trump the Strongman Flexes at United Nations HQ

President Trump spoke before the United Nations General Assembly today. To be honest, he almost sounded like every totalitarian dictator I have heard.  He completely rejects globalism.  And yet, how is it that the U.S. became the most powerful country on the planet.  He completely rejects the ICC and its legitimacy and yet in some parts of the world, it in the only thing that has brought any justice whatsoever.  He continues to ratchet up threats against the Iranians and his advisor just days ago said that there will be regime change in Iran. He is arguing soverignty and yet is demanding the Chinese and others do what the Americans want.  Just odd.

This is an extraordinary time in history and the Republicans seem more interested in sitting back and watching the insanity because he is their guy. The entire has world is watching with concern and dread in some cases. This President is exacerbating that.

Today, I will appear on Press TV Tehran to discuss.  It is particularly interesting as this is not an academic question when the President and his advisors have threatened to remove your democratically elected leadership - and not for the first time.

I hope you can watch.

[RTTV Washington DC] September 19th: Jack Talks Trump's United Nations Speech

I appear on RTTV Washington on September 19th.  President Trump spoke before the United Nations General Assembly today. Sadly, this President who has been quite successful in front of his base but has never pivoted to actually being President of the United States. In a world that can be incredibly dangerous, this President had the opportunity to motivate this international body to come together to try to drive a settlement with the North Koreans. Instead, he threatened to annihilate the country along with potentially millions of people.

I will discuss the North Korean issue and well as his statements regarding the Iran Nuclear deal. While they are somewhat connected, the potential of pulling out of this deal would result in simply no deal at all. If the Americans find a way to keep sanctions at the current levels, or even increase them, the potential could be catastrophic.

This will be a complex but important conversation.

Jack Scheduled to Report from the United Nations.

I'm leaving for United Nations Headquarters in a couple of days.  A lot of things are going on around the world and the UN is frequently the most successful at dealing with certain kinds of humanitarian crises.  But is the demand too much while the resources are too few.

Check back for interviews, video, audio and more from the United Nations Headquarters.

Jack Reports from the United Nations Headquarters.

The world has become a much smaller place.  And American involvement in that World is crucial to our continued success.  We depend upon trade and stability.  But stability should not be our only concern.

I'm heading back to the United Nations in the coming weeks to better understand how the UN fits into that mix and how President Obama's willingness to substantially shift policy regarding the UN will change the future. President Obama raised Ambassador Susan Rice, the U.S. Ambassador to the UN, to a Cabinet level position.  I'm going to the UN to better understand why.

Keep checking back for video and and audio reports.
