About Jack

Jack is really a storyteller, international explorer, and humanitarian and everything else rolls out from there. As a writer, its what he does.  As a trial lawyer, its his most important tool.  As a former CIA officer, the only way to truly motivate people is to connect and to tell them a story that they can feel viscerally.  As a media analyst, what better way to make a point.  In the end, he tries to captivate his audience about the world and its people as much as he himself is captivated.

[Voice of America Intl] August 3rd: Jack Talks Trump/Russia Grand Jury

I appear on Voice of America International Edition on August 3rd. Special Counsel Robert Mueller has impaneled a Grand Jury in Washington DC to take a closer look at any possible collusion between Mr. Trump and/or his associates and the Russians. It is a fascinating development because it shows that the investigation isn't fading away but is rather heating up.

In addition, Mueller continues to add to an already impressive list of attorneys that are investigating the case. That fact that he is continuing to add attorneys also supports the contention that the investigation is not winding down but speeding up.

To add to the drama, bi-partisan bills have been introduced in both the House and the Senate to help insulate and protect Mueller from manipulation by the President. Its extraordinary that a bipartisan group see this an an issue.

This is going to be an interesting conversation.

[Voice of America Intl] July 24th: Jack Talks the Building Russian Investigation

I appear on Voice of American International Edition with Lori Lundin.  This story continues to have legs. Sometimes, it is the constant drip drip drip of new allegations including more information about Jr's meeting with Russians to content of previous meetings by the Attorney General Sessions with the Russian Ambassador to Trump's son-in-law Kushner's upcoming appearance before the House Intelligence Committee.  Of course, as those were enough, we have Mr. Trump's proclivity to stir the pot with his never ending tweet-a-thon.  There are now stories swirling of Trump contemplating pardoning his own people and even himself.  While these might have seemed laughable at one time, now?

This is an extraordinary story and one which this country has never seen before. In the past, every scandal was compared to Watergate, was given the title, Something-gate, and then never lived up to the hype. This story, on the other hand, absolutely has the potential of making that story laughable in comparison.

Hope you can listen.

[Voice of America Intl] July 11th: Jack Talks Jr, Manafort and Kushner Meeting with Russian Operative

I appear on Voice of America International Edition. This is an extraordinary development. From the beginning, the Trump Administration has claimed they had no contact with the Russians and that was fake news. The problem, of course, is that they have had extraordinary contact with the Russians. The latest revelation is pretty astounding in itself but consider it in context of all of the previous pieces of information and it is potentially quite explosive.

According to the New York Times and then reiterated by Jr. himself after forced into a corner, Jr. thought he was dealing with a Russian government contact who had dirt on Hillary Clinton. Of course, there is a real question about why he didn't go directly to the FBI.  He didn't. Instead, his response was to say, "seems we have some time and if its what you say, I love it especially later in the summer."  This is extraordinary as it feels like collusion. Further, the Russians then released a ton of information through Wikileaks "later in the summer."  Coincidence?  Hell of a coincidence.

One last point, some have attempted to argue that Jr. is not a White House official in any sense.  Of course, that ignores that possibility that his father was made aware of the situation.  That has yet to be determined. However, what we do know if that Jr. Paul Manafort, the Director of Donald Trump's Presidential campaign, and Donald Trump's senior advisor and dson-in-law Jared Kushner were all present for a meeting  with this Russian lawyer.

Robert Mueller, Special Counsel investigating the Trump/Russia connections, just announced they will be looking into the emails of Jr. as part of their broader investigaiton.

Yeah, this story has legs.

[Voice of America Intl] June 27th: Jack Talks U.S. Image Tanking

I appear on Voice of America International on June 27th. The Pew Center conducted a study across 37 countries around the world looking at President Trump and many of his policies.  The numbers are pretty startling. What is significant st that the perception from both adversaries and allies and the numbers are pretty damning for the U.S. and its position around the world.

Pew looked at the views of people regarding President Trump including his competency to be president, his leadership capability and even whether or not he is simply too dangerous to the planet.  As for the his policies, Pew looked at everything from immigration to climate change to war to trade agreements.

One of the real takeaways of this piece is how the impacts the ability of the U.S. to use its power around the world.

This is going to be an interesting conversation.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] May 29th: Jack Talks Trump, Kushner, and the Russians

I appear on Voice of America International Edition. President Trump just returned from an international trip. His hope was to change the story and try to focus on something, anything, rather than continue talking about the question of Russian complicity and conspiracy. However, in his absence, the story broke regarding Senior Advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner's apparent efforts to set up a covert comminution system with the Russians out of the Russian embassy. It is an extraordinary story and one that is terribly disconcerting as it has the potential to open up Kushner and the President to blackmail. Of course, that is unless they were actually recruited by the Russians. Of course, at this point, nobody knows all of the answers but there are many many questions that remain unanswered. This is an extraordinary story;

Hope you can listen.

[Voice of America Intl. Edition] March 31: Jack Talks Latest on Trump/Russia Investigation

I appear on Voice of America International Edition on March 31st.  There are multiple investigations going on as we speak involving the Trump Administration and their alleged connections with the Russians.  We know that the Russians tried to impact the Presidential election.  That's not the question.  The entire U.S. Intelligence establishment has concluded that that is the case.  The issue is whether the Trump Administration conspired with the Russians to make that happen.  The sort of enemy of my enemy is my friend concept.  We will discuss the latest.

With so much going on in both the House and Senate Intelligence Committees as well as the FBI, there is going to be a lot to talk about including Burr, Nunez, Flynn, Kuchner and more.  Hope you can catch it.
